French macarons – colorful delight

Macrons are simple and adorable treats from France that have literally taken over the world. The secret of the popularity of this treat is in its colorfulness and well as in the simplicity of the preparation. If you want to impress your guests with this small and sweet delight, here is a simple recipe how to make a macron biscuit in a matter of minutes.

The ingredients you will need are:

  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup super-fine sugar
  • 3/4 cup almond flour
  • optionally a pinch of cream of tartar
  • Food color(optionally)

With electric mixer, beat the egg whites.When you notice that the egg whites begins to foam, add sugar and almond flour graduatelly, not all at once, and whisk until the snow still not solid and brilliant, but do not blur too long or macarons will be dry.

With a rubber spatula or wooden spoon, gently and slowly stir the egg white mixture adding in the desired food coloring and/or flavor extract.

Put the mixture in a piping bag, and on a parchment paper make little circle macrons.

Bake in preheated oven at 325 degrees for at least 5-10 minutes.
