How to maintain the hair extensions

Hair extensions are a common choice of today’s women who want to beautify their appearance by using hair extensions and make the hair look thicker, longer and, of course – beautiful. However, if you decide to take this step, you should know that you will need to take a good care of hair extensions to make them last long while not damaging your natural hair.

  • So the hair on which you have had the extensions implanted should be carefully nurtured, preferably twice a week, and for even better results, wash the hair using professional products at least once a month.
  • For the “home care” of your extensions, opt for agents that are used for treating and washing wigs.
  • Before washing, extensions should be well combed, and if you put balm, do not apply it from the very roots of the hair.
  • Prior to combing the hair, make sure to sort it properly, in order to facilitate the “process”.  Sort the hair by improvising the combing by fingers. Do this in a way that the extensions are between joints and peaks of your finger. However, if you have curly hair and the extensions, do not comb but only sort the extensions with your fingers.
  • If, on the other hand, you have straight hair, comb it with a special brush for extensions twice a day, in the morning and at the evening.
  • Combing the wet hair is strictly prohibited. After washing your extensions, do not rub them with the towel because the extensions can become entangled.
  • Tap the extensions with the towel to squeeze the excess water from hair extensions and then brush it off using a special brush.
  • Once you have untangled the extensions, you can then start drying hair, although it should be known that too much of hot air can damage the extensions, especially those of lower quality.
  • Before bedtime, always collect your hair in a pony tail because you extensions are more likely to be protected from entanglement.
  • If you go to the beach or swim in the pool, and you have extensions, you have to remove the remains of salt or chlorine because those residues can be very harmful to your hair. Also the sun can be a problem and it is necessary to apply the products to protect hair from the sun.
