The dangers of prostate problems

Many men are familiar with some of the following symptoms; urination problem, urine stream is not as strong as before, and night wakening becomes more frequent.

Almost every second man over the age of 45 years already has prostate problems. Recently, this limit is increasingly shifted forward, more and more young men have symptoms related to the prostate.

The prostate is a walnut-sized muscular organ that partially ring-closing the urethra. Its function is the production of secretions that carries sperm.

In old age, often occurs the growth of the prostate, which in most cases is benign and does not requires certain therapy.

But due to the increase in size, the prostate compresses the urethra, which leads to difficulty with urination.

Affected persons should not suppress these problems, but as soon as possible to contact their urologist.

Erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction occurs in about 5% of men older than 40 years, and with age the percentage is growing. By the age of seventies this disorder is notices in every other man.  The erectile dysfunction does not have a certain period in which is normal occurrence such anomaly. Erectile dysfunction, with respect to its cause, treated with psychotherapy, medications or surgical path.

Premature ejaculation

Premature ejaculation is one of the more common difficulties, and this problem is often within about 30% of men, of all ages, and the number of men that seek professional help is only about 12%. It often occurs simultaneously with erectile difficulties. The problem can be treated with psychotherapy and self-help, compression techniques and the stop-start technique. When all these techniques fail, the medication treatments are used and such treatments usually lasts from three to six weeks.

Inflammation of the prostate

Prostate inflammation mainly affects men between age 30 and 40 years. Treatment is short-termed, with antibiotics and strict bed rest. Untreated disease is eventually developed into an unpleasant chronic form, and usually occurs only as an acute one. This one of the most common problems is caused by inflammation of the lower urinary tract, with benign prostate enlargement and abnormal bladder. Patients tend to be older than 50 years.

Prostate enlargement

In the developed world, men have a 50% greater chance to have difficulties in urinating during the old age caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia, or prostate enlargement. Usually the disease is treated with medication, which can take several years, and occasionally needs operations.

Prostate cancer

The most dangerous is prostate difficulty is definitely the prostate cancer, which risks increases with age. Since it affects about 9.5% of men aged 50 years or more, while the frequency of prostate cancer in men over 65 years, increases in about 13%.. Prostate cancer is curable if it is detected in the initial stage. Its treatment depends on the extent of the disease. That is why, in men older than 50 years, very important for regular preventive to have annual prostate examinations, even when man does not have any difficulties.
