
Some people can hardly imagine their life’s without this delicious, yet very simple to make ingredient. If you as well cannot resist a good mayonnaise, but want to avoid eating the additives that are in the mayonnaise, here is a simple DIY that you can try.
For making your own mayonnaise, you will need these ingredients
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of mustard
- 2 teaspoons cup vegetable oil or olive oil (optional)
- 1 tea cup of lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon of pepper powder
- 1-2 tablespoons of boiled water
- 1 tablespoon of vinegar
Step 1:
One of the main tips before you start preparing your own mayonnaise is to take out all the food you will be using and leave it to the room temperature for few hours. It is believed that it is important that the food is at the same temperature so that the mayonnaise turns out the best.
Step 2:
Take the container in which you are planning to make mayonnaise and first separate the 3 egg yolks. Whites basically do not go in mayonnaise, so you can leave in the fridge for later preparation of some sweets.
Step 3:
Add salt in the bowl with the yolks, and whisk with mixer for about 1 minute. After that, add the mustard and whisk the next few minutes. A special tip refers to whipping, to obtain a homogeneous mass of great importance that cannot be interrupted whipping mixer but to immediately pass on groceries. After adding salt and mustard, it’s time for oil. The oil should be dripped into the yokes. When the mixture becomes firm, add lemon juice, pepper and vinegar with continues to whipping, because the mixture should be as strong as possible.
Step 4:
If you notice that the mayonnaise is not stiff enough at the end of preparation or if some components were not fresh enough, add a bit of boiled lukewarm water to the mixture and continue mixing. Mayonnaise prepared in this way should immediately be poured into a glass jar, closed and left in a freezer for 8-10 days.
