Your own DIY pillow
If you choose the second option, you need the following materials:
• fabric by your own choice,
• needle and thread (or a sewing machine),
• scissors
• pillow filling (sponge, feathers or pieces of Styrofoam)
Before you start sewing pillows, opt for a certain shape of the pillow you wish to sew and fold the fabric in half.
Draw on the fabric the desired shape and cut with scissors and bear in mind to leave 1 inch of extra fabric above the drawn lines.
Sew 3 sides of the fabric, but leave an opening through which you will add the pillow charging.
Once you stuff the pillow, sew the hole and decorate the pillow.
When it comes to applications and designs of the pillowcases, the possibilities are endless. You can play with colors and materials. Here are some suggestions:
Decorative DIY pillow of shirts or sweaters
This is a perfect little idea for creating winter wonderland indoors. To make this simple, but very effective pillowcase, you will need:
• an old shirt or sweater that you no longer wear
• pillow
• scissors
• needle
• thread
Pull the shirt (sweater) on the pillow and clip all the buttons, if any.
If the sweater (shirt) is wider than a pillow, adjust the new pillowcase by tightening it over the pillow.
Cut off the excess fabric with scissors and sew them the way you want them to be.
