, DIY eco-friendly mosquito trap

Besides the joy and plenty outdoor activities, warm days also bring those annoying mosquitoes. If mosquitoes seem to adore you, here’s a very simple and cheap solution for you.

To create this eco-friendly mosquito trap, you will need:

  • an empty  plastic bottles of 2 liters,
  • a piece of black material
  • 200 ml of water,
  • 60 ml of brown sugar,
  • 1 ml of yeast

Step 1:

Cut the top of a plastic bottle in the form of a funnel, and the bottom of the other deep forms a bowl. Save the Funnel for later.

Step 2:

Cover the bottom of the bottle with the black material (black attracts mosquitoes).

Step 3:

Stir in brown sugar into the warm water to dissolve the sugar.

Step 4:

When the liquid has cooled, pour in into the black coated bottle, and add the yeast at the top.

Step 5:

Insert the funnel onto the bottle, in a way that the funnel does not touch the liquid.

The smell of fermented yeast attracts the mosquitoes, and once they get into this trap, there is no way out. They either stick to the sides of the bottle due to the sticky sugar water or just get too tired of trying to find a way out. This trap is effective for 2 weeks, after that period, all you need to do is simply change the liquid.
